STEPS IN SETTING UP A CHROMECAST
Setting up a chromecast might seem really complicated but I assure you it’s not. It’s faster and gives you a better experience while watching your favourite videos, so below are the steps on how to set up a Chromecast
1. PLUG IN
To begin at all, you have to plug in the Chromcast into your TV’s HDMI port, then connect the USB wire attached into a compatible port to keep the Chromecast charging while you make use of it.
2. CHANGE THE CHANNEL
Then, if your TV is not already tuned to the channel your Chromecast is connected to, change the input channel to the specific port your Chromecast is connected to. You’ll know it’s the right port when you see ‘set me up’ displayed on your screen.
3. DOWNLOAD THE APP
You will need to download the Google Home app on your phone. And you can get it from Google play store or your App store. Although it may have come preinstalled in your Smartphone.
4. CHOOSE DEVICE
Once you install the app, open the app and it will prompt you to set up a new device. If it doesn’t, you can add a new device by tapping ‘devices’ on the top right corner of the app once you open it. Google home will then use your location to find the devices closest to you. Select the Chromecast on the list of devices provided, choose ‘set up’ and then tap continue.
5. CHECK THE CODE
Once you tap continue, a code will appear on both the TV screen and your app, check to see if the codes match and if it does, then tap yes to continue.
6. PICK A NAME
You would then have to pick a name for the Chromecast. You can choose to come up with something practical or funny or even clever. Once you do this, tap ‘continue’ to move on.
7. CONNECT THE CHROMECAST TO THE INTERNET
You need to connect the Chromecast to the internet to be able to stream from the internet; you can do this by connecting it via your Wi-Fi. Enter your password in the provided space to connect.
8. BEGIN CASTING
Once you have followed this steps, then you can start casting from your phone to your TV screen successfully. If you have a problem connecting, check to see if your device is compatible with the Chromecast. Also if you need a tutorial on casting, sign into your Google account on the device and you will receive a tutorial video on ‘How to Cast’.
